Setting a Homepage

This page covers the basics of setting up a custom homepage for your site, including creating new pages for your home and post listings respectively.

By default, your posts page (also known as the index page) is used for your homepage, and there's actually no need to change this because you can configure your homepage in the Theme Options panel of the customizer. But should you want a separate page as your homepage, you can follow this guide.

First, you'll need to create two pages: One for your homepage (you can call it "Home" or something similar), and one for displaying your posts (you can call this one "Blog" or something similar). If you're not sure how to create pages in WordPress, please see the chapter on Creating a Page. These pages don't need to have any content in them.

Once your pages are set up, you'll need to navigate to Settings > Reading from your WordPress dashboard, then in the option that says "Your homepage displays", select "A static page".

You now need to set the "Homepage" to your newly created "Home" page and set the "Posts page" to your newly created "Blog" page. Once this is done, click on "Save Changes" at the bottom and your site will now display your custom homepage instead of the default index page.
