Custom Widgets

This page tells you about the unique custom widgets that come with Aubrey, and what widget areas are available in the theme.

WordPress is known for its many built-in widgets, but Aubrey comes with its own set of widgets too! To set up your widgets, navigate to Appearance > Widgets from your WordPress dashboard.

🗓️ Widget Areas

First, we should mention that there are five areas in the theme that can display widgets...

  • Main Sidebar - This is your main sidebar area that appears on pages and single posts.

  • Footer Columns 1,2, and 3 - These are the three columns at the bottom of each page in the footer area of the site.

  • Off-Canvas Sidebar - This is where your off-canvas navigation menu appears and is mainly used for mobile and tablet displays, but can be used on desktop displays too.

Simply drag your widgets to your desired widget area using WordPress's fluid drag and drop interface. All default widgets are styled to blend in with Aubrey's unique design!

🔌 Custom Widgets

There are some widgets available that are unique to Aubrey if you have the Aubrey Plugin installed and activated. Here's a brief overview of each one...

This widget is ideal for displaying a custom list of posts complete with a thumbnail, title and publish date. Choose to order posts by title, date, or randomly display posts. You can also choose specific posts to display too.

Aubrey - Profile

This profile widget is an ideal way to display more information about yourself or your business, including a custom avatar, custom text, signature, and social icons.

Tip: You can use this widget as a social icons widget on its own (just like in the demo)! Just leave all the other fields blank when configuring the widget.

Aubrey - Promotional Box

The promotional boxes that you see on the homepage are also available as widgets too! Great if you want to promote something or link to other pages and external sites.
