Installing Plugins

This page covers the plugin installation process, including the required and recommended plugins that will enhance the theme.

🔌 Install The Plugins

Now that the theme has been installed, it's time to install the plugins! Aubrey comes bundled with one plugin and uses three other plugins from the WordPress.org repository. All of which are completely optional...

  • Aubrey Plugin - This plugin complements the theme by adding extra features and functionality.

  • One-Click Demo Import - This plugin is used to quickly and seamlessly import demo data to your site.

  • MailChimp For WordPress - This plugin links your site to your MailChimp account and allows newsletter forms to be added via widgets and shortcodes.

  • Smash Balloon Instagram Feed - This plugin syncs your site with your Instagram account to allow Instagram feeds to be displayed via widgets and shortcodes.

Once the theme has been installed, you may have noticed a little nag at the top of the page prompting you to install these plugins. The quickest and easiest way to do this is to click on "Begin installing plugins" to install and activate them all at once.

Select the plugins you want to install by clicking the checkboxes. Click on "Bulk Actions" and then choose "Install". Click on "Apply" to confirm the action. This will begin the installation process for each of the plugins. The process should take no longer than a minute or two depending on your server. Once complete, you should see the following screen...

🎚️ Activate The Plugins

Now that the plugins have been installed, all that's left is to activate them. Click on "Return to Required Plugins Installer" and you'll be taken back to the plugins management screen. Using the same process as before, check the boxes of the plugins you want to activate, then select "Activate" from the "Bulk actions" dropdown menu. Click on "Apply" to confirm the process.

This will now activate all the plugins that you've just installed. You can also manage these plugins in the main plugins page by navigating to Plugins > Installed Plugins from your WordPress dashboard. That's all you need to get started, but if you want to install the demo content, see the next chapter.

Tip: At this point, it's a good idea to view the updates page to see if there are any updates needed for the newly installed plugins 👍
