Featured Posts Slider

This page covers all of the available options relating to the featured posts slider. This is typically displayed on the homepage but can also be added to any page.

Heads Up! The customizer settings for this area will only take effect if no static page has been set as the homepage. If a static page has been set, you'll find these settings at the bottom of the page edit screen instead.

  • Enable This Area?* - Toggle this switch to enable or disable this area completely.

  • Order Posts by* - Use this setting to determine which posts to display based on the chosen value.

    • Date - Display posts in date order.

    • Title - Display posts alphabetically.

    • Random - Display a random set of posts every time the page is refreshed.

    • Choose Posts - Select this option if you want to manually pick and choose which posts to use in the slider.

  • Order Posts in* - Use this setting to display the posts in either ascending or descending order. This setting is only applicable when "Date" or "Title" is selected above.

  • Number of Posts to Show* - Use this setting to change the number of posts to display. This setting is only applicable when "Date", "Title" or "Random" is selected above. The maximum value is 12.

  • Posts to Show* - If "Choose Posts" is selected above, this setting allows you to choose which posts you want to display. Click on the text field and start typing to find the posts you want. These can also be dragged with the mouse to re-order them.

  • Overlay Colour* - Use this setting to set the overlay colour for the slider. This should ideally have a transparency value set so viewers can clearly see the featured image.

  • Visibility Settings - Use the following settings to toggle the visibility of some elements in the content area of each slide.

    • Display the Post Author?* - If switched on, the author's name is shown at the bottom of each slide.

    • Link to Author Archives?* - If the above setting is turned on, then this setting will allow visitors to view the author's archive page by clicking on the author name.

    • Display Estimated Reading Time?* - When switched on, an estimated reading time will be shown along with the date and comments link in the post meta. The reading time is determined by the number of words the article has.

    • Display Comments Link?* - When switched on, a link to the comments section for the post will be shown in the post meta. Also displays the number of comments the post has.

Tip: The settings marked with * are also available on other pages when editing the page itself.
